Steve Gosling is a talented landscape photographer from the UK with many years of experience in the field. Heather and I have had the chance to meet him personally on several occasions and we also interviewed him on MirrorLessons. His work has appeared in advertisements, books, magazines, newspapers and calendars, as well as many exhibition venues throughout the UK. He also won several national and international competitions.
Steve aims to produce creative and contemporary images and has a particular love for monochrome photographs. Quoting Steve about his work:
I am particularly interested in producing a personal interpretation of my subject rather than a representation.
This is why Steve very often uses filters to give an interesting look to the scenes he photographs. Not only does he shoot with the Olympus OM-D E-M5 mark II but also medium format cameras such as the Alpa TC and Phase One.
Steve is an ambassador for Manfrotto, Gitzo tripods and Olympus. The last on the list recently released a new video about his work as a landscape photographer. Usually official videos from camera brands have a purely commercial aim. However in this case we really enjoyed watching it because it is useful for anyone interested in landscape photography regardless of the brand or camera they use. Steve even mentions his use of the Alpa and Phase One cameras despite it being an official Olympus video. Of course Steve explains his favourite aspects of the OM-D cameras as well as when he chooses them over the medium format camera.
But most importantly, he shares his vision as a photographer and gives away a few interesting tips, which is what makes this 9 minute video worth watching. So without further ado, here is the video:
