The Zeiss Loxia 21mm f/2.8 is the third Loxia prime from Zeiss, following the well-received 35mm f/2 and 50mm f/2, and is currently the only native ultra-wide angle prime for the Sony A7 series. Its focal length makes it the ideal companion for landscapes, cityscapes, and architecture. When we tested this lens ourselves, we were highly impressed by its sharpness, contrast, and overall versatility.
Since then, three more reviewers have written articles about this excellent prime.
Jordan Steele of Admiring Light has very little to say against the lens, which is a compliment as he is always very scrupulous in his testing. Beyond praising obvious points such as sharpness, contrast and colour, he remarks on the pleasing bokeh, excellent flare resistance, good control of chromatic aberration and attractive sunstars. As he states in his conclusion:
The Loxia 21mm f/2.8 Distagon is a lens truly worthy of the Zeiss name.

The second is by Philberphoto of Dear Susan. This article is actually less of a review and more of a follow-up to the full review posted on the website earlier on. His comments about the sharpness in particularly are revealing:
… the Loxia is so good that you can crop your shots with unbridled sadism, and the 21mm focal length is then totally unrecognizable.
Although he is a proud owner of the 21mm, calling it a “jewel of a lens,” his personal feeling is that it lacks the character of some other Zeiss lenses such as the older Distagon 21 or the more recent Otus 55.

The final article is on the Japanese website Kasyapa. It mostly consists of some very nice sample images taken with the lens and the A7 II.
