Finding Range reviews the Fujifilm XF 35mm f/2

The latest Fujifilm XF 35mm f/2 review I had the chance to read is by Patrick Leong of Finding Range. Already an owner and great fan of the previous XF 35mm f/1.4, he manages to draw many interesting comparisons between the two 35mm primes throughout the review. Most notably, he appreciates the silent operation, weather-proofing and fast focusing of this new version. However, he doesn’t plan on getting rid of the f/1.4 version for two reasons: he still prefers its bokeh rendering and the extra stop allows him to keep his ISO values down.

Patrick also makes some interesting comments about the size of the lens. While many of Fuji’s latest lenses have been quite large – the XF 90mm in particular comes to mind – the 35mm seems like a return to the original ethos of mirrorless cameras. He states:

In my opinion, a [small] lens like this is one of the biggest reasons to join the mirrorless world.

Even if you already know all about the 35mm’s specifications, it is still worth checking out the review for Patrick’s very nice images, which demonstrate the wide range of genres the lens is good for.
