Brian Smith discusses the Sigma MC-11 converter for Sony E-Mount

Sony Artisan Brian Smith recently posted an informative article about the new Sigma MC-11 mount converter, which promises to be an interesting option for users of both Sony APS-C and full-frame E-mount cameras who wish to adapt lenses from the Sigma line-up.

Along with providing a full list of compatible lenses within the Sigma EF and SA range, Brian explains what the adapter can and cannot do. For example, it does offer fast and accurate PDAF and full AF functions including focus tracking and Eye-AF when paired with compatible lenses. However, it doesn’t work with non-compatible Sigma lenses (obviously) or Canon EF lenses, and we can completely forget about adapting anything for the Nikon F mount.

In his conclusion, Brian also speculates about how Sigma was able to create a converter that, as he puts it:

…unlocks all these native functions when other Smart Adapters from Metabones and even Sony’s own LA-EA3 adapter can’t.

To find out what he thinks Sigma’s secret is, you’ll have to read the full article!
