6 Fashion Shoots and the A7r II – Dana Pennington makes the switch to Sony

Curiosity recently got the better of fashion photographer Dana Pennington. After reading many reviews about the Sony A7r II, he decided to test the camera at six different on-location fashion shoots to see if it lived up to the hype. The result? After years of being a Canon user, Dana has decided to make the switch.

Some of Dana’s initial worries were linked to battery life, the quality of the EVF and the autofocus – he felt the original A7 lacked in all these areas – but he was pleasantly surprised on all fronts. It was interesting to learn that he managed to take over 800 shots in a day with 26% of the battery life left to spare just by switching the camera over to airplane mode.

And about the quality of the Raw files, he states:

The dynamic range and amount of detail is noticeably greater than the 5D Mark III files that I am used to. They hold up really well even to my harshest of color adjustments and abuses.
