In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Trioplan lenses, Meyer Optik is planning to resurrect the company’s ultimate art lens, the Trioplan 50mm f/2.9, with a superior engineered design, better materials, and handmade German manufacturing.
Not only will the new 50mm feature Trioplan’s unique “soap bubble” bokeh, but it will also have a new front focus “close-up” element, resulting in a reproduction scale of 1:4 and a minimum focus distance of only 0.28m.
It will be available for the following mounts:
- Canon EF
- Nikon F
- Sony E
- FujiX
- Micro Four Thirds
- M42
- Leica M (rangefinder not supported/focusing via live view)
Since the new lens has been successfully funded on Kickstarter, we should expect shipping to start sometime this year. It will be available for the price of $449.
