New Announcement: Panasonic Lumix TZ100 / SZ100 1-inch compact camera

Today another camera joins the ever-growing band of compact cameras with a 1-inch sensor, this time from Panasonic. The new Lumix TZ100 (known as ZS100 in North America) has a 20MP 1-inch sensor paired with an extremely versatile 25-250mm equivalent Leica DC Vario-Elmarit lens, making it the 1-inch compact with the widest zoom range.

Why have these cameras become so popular? Well, 1-inch sensors boast better image quality than the traditionally smaller sensor you’ll find inside a point and shoot camera or smartphone. Even more important is that these cameras are virtually pocketable, so you can carry them around with you wherever you go.

Beyond its small size, vast zoom range and large sensor, the TZ100 has another great advantage in that it shoots 4K video at 25fps. This also means that it incorporates some of the latest 4K features found on the high-end models including 4K Photo and Post Focus. The fact that 4K video has trickled down even to Panasonic’s compact cameras is a sign that it has truly become a standard.

Other features designed to impress consumers are its 10fps burst shooting capabilities, 5-axis hybrid O.I.S., 3-inch 1,040k dot touch screen, in-camera Raw data development, and full wireless control.

You can purchase the new Lumix ZS100 for just under $700. You can check out the full press release at Panasonic.co.uk.
