The Inspired Eye is a website, blog, podcast and bi-monthly magazine that was founded by Don Springer and Olivier Duong, two photographers who, despite never having met in real life, decided to work together to share their passion for photography with the rest of the world. They were inspired to design The Inspired Eye as a tribute to working photographers.
What makes The Inspired Eye so unique is that it puts the spotlight on both famous and relatively unknown photographers. It is written and compiled with a strong sense of community, and often features the work of the same photographers more than once. Finally, the questions asked for each interview are always the same so that we can see how the answers of the various photographers compare. Doing so gives a reference to the readers as well.
The 35th issue of the magazine was released a few days ago and features the following stories:
- How a photographer finds challenge in the streets when he got tired of painting
- An elementary teacher’s litmus test for a good image
- A German photographer’s simple philosophy that allows her to get great images
- A Brazilian’s intimate images of his family and country
- A unique look at a Cyberpunk Japan
- How a photographer started photography to impress girls but instead found his passion
- The expressive photo chronicles of an expat in Taiwan
- A trip back in time in 1990’s Japan
The Inspired Eye is available for your mobile device or laptop and is published in PDF format. To date, it has over 10,000 members and is rapidly growing. You can either purchase a single copy or get a subscription for less than $20/year.
