Shooting portraits and fashion of a bygone era with Fujifilm

Portrait and fashion photographer Alexander Bather recently shared a very interesting guest post on FujiLove, where he talks about his journey from having no knowledge about photography to travelling the world, photographing fashion and portraits for well-known clients with his Fujifilm X-Pro2 and X-T10.

Inspired by his family’s collection of old photographs and famous photographers such as Helmut Newton, Andy Warhol and Stanley Kubrick, he always tries to capture the natural side of his subjects without placing too much emphasis on the perfect lighting and setting.

Three other art forms that influence his work are movies, music and fashion, particularly clothing from previous eras. Indeed, all his portraits – many of which you can see on his Instagram account – have a very cinematic and gritty look that reminds you of a bygone age.
