Before the start of Rio 2016, photographer Drew Gardner was assigned to shoot a multimedia project of the USA Olympic Team Women’s 8 for ‘Sports Illustrated’. The aim was to create “something spectacular”, as Drew puts it, to showcase the incredible talent of these world champions. As such, he came up with the idea to shoot an interactive 360° panorama with clickable video interviews with each athlete.
The entire project, including the portrait shoot that came before the 360° panorama, was shot with the new Fujifilm X-T2. Speaking about why he chose this particular camera, Drew states:
“I needed something small and lightweight, with superb still image quality and 4K video capabilities whilst being very user friendly.”
