Ever since graduating with a four-year bachelor’s degree, I’ve come to realise that hands-on experience counts much more than anything you’ll ever learn within the four walls of a university classroom. This is no more evident than in a recent story I read about a nine-year-old girl who has followed her father on photo shoots since the tender age of three and developed such an interest in photography that she’s now started to shoot weddings.
In the article, photographer Kevin Wyllie shares his daughter Regina’s first experience as a second shooter at a friend’s wedding. Throughout the entire wedding, she did everything on her own, from setting up the classic shots of the dresses and shoes to capturing impromptu moments between friends and relatives. According to Kevin, she shot everything on full manual and only required assistance during the post-production stage.
You can see a gallery of Regina’s lovely shots from the wedding here. I think we can all agree that she’s on her way to becoming a true “pro” thanks to her loving dad and all the experience she’s had out in the field!
