What was already available on the Lumix GX8 will now be carried over to the GH4 at the end of March 2016. Thanks to firmware update 2.5, you will soon be able to use 4K Photo, Post Focus and External Flash Burst on the flagship camera. As with every firmware update, the download is free of charge.
4K Photo includes three different modes that allow you to capture an 8MP still in-camera from 4K footage at 30p. The three modes are 4K Burst / 4K Burst (Start/Stop) / 4K Pre-burst.
Post Focus is a relatively new addition to Lumix cameras. It enables users to select an in-focus point after shooting, which can be useful for macro photography and other genres where pinpointing the focus is essential.
Finally, we also get consecutive shooting with flash burst with an external flash that is capable of continuous emission. Compatible flashes include the DMW-FL580L, DMW-FL360L, DMW-FL500, DMW-FL360 and DMW-FL220.
You will be able to download the firmware update from the Panasonic website once it is online at the end of the month.
