New firmware update for the Panasonic GH5, GX850 and lenses

Panasonic has released the first firmware update for its flagship micro four thirds camera, the GH5. Version 1.1 brings 4:2:2 10-bit video recording to the Full HD format and is available with both MP4 and MOV formats. The same compression is available when selecting the 4:3 Anamorphic format.

The new firmware also fixes a few issues:

  • the exposure adjustment wasn’t working correctly with the live view when the SS/Gain Operation setting was set to ANGLE/ISO and the Variable Frame Rate was selected in the Creative Video mode
  • afterimages appearing with V-LogL when recording video at high ISO sensitivity.

The entry-level Lumix GX850 has a new function called Beauty Retouch where you can apply aesthetics and make-up effects to the faces of people (yep, you read that right!).

Finally, an update for the 45-175mm makes it compatible with Dual IS 2.
