Jerry Lucas, who is a Sony A7r user, was recently given the opportunity to use the Leica M9 for an hour whilst visiting Coleman Hill. His aim was to find out whether the image quality produced by the M9 really had that “Leica magic” and more importantly, whether it was worth buying given that he already owns a full-frame Sony.
For his informal tests, he used a number of different lenses including the Zeiss Biogon 35/2, Voigtländer Nokton 40/1.4, Nokton 50/1.5, and Leica Tele-Elmarit 90/2.8.
Although he ended up preferring the colours coming from the Leica in most cases, it wasn’t enough to push him to make the $2500 investment.
