After announcing its development at the beginning of the year, Voigtländer/Cosina has recently unveiled the full specifications and price of the FE 40mm f1.2. Like the other FE lenses from the brand, the 40mm is a manual focus lens with electronic contacts which means exif data can be saved and you can also activate magnifcation by turning the focus ring. The aperture ring can be de-clicked for video use.
Concerning the full specs, we have a minimum aperture of f/22, 8 optical elements in 6 groups, 10 diaphragm blades and a shortest focus distance of 35cm (maximum magnification is 1:6.2). The lens is small and compact with a weight of 420g, a diameter of 70mm and length of 59mm. The expected price should be around $1200 (based on the Japanese Yen conversion). The release date is still unclear however.
Lensbaby has announced a new lens for the full frame Sony E-mount as well. The Composer Pro II with Sweet 80 Optic is a manual focus portrait lens with a tilting and selective focus mechanism to achieve a creative bokeh and shallow depth of field effects. It features a 12 blade aperture with a range of f/2.8 to f/22. The design includes four multi-coated elements in two groups and a minimum focus distance of 55cm. The lens will be available mid-October at $380.
