One of the first full reviews of the new Olympus M.Zuiko 25mm f/1.2 PRO to appear online was by Robin Wong, an Olympus employee based in Malaysia. As we’ve often said, his reviews are definitely worth reading, mostly due to the gorgeous images he always makes a point to share, but should always be taken with a grain of salt.
In his review, he explains that the 25mm f/1.2 was designed to achieve the highest resolution possible and lacks many of the most common technical flaws found on other lenses, such as chromatic aberration, corner softness and distortion.
He praises the beauty of the bokeh, although he emphasises the fact that the 1.2 aperture, which is a first for Olympus, isn’t a “magic bullet” that will suddenly give your images a full-frame look. If you want to isolate your subject, he suggests sticking with half-body rather than full-body shots.
