One of the most reliable reviewers in the Fujifilm community is Donovan Bond of FujivsFuji. Having used nearly every camera in the X series, he knows the products like the back of his own hand, if not better! He was also one of the first non X-photographers to receive a sample to test ahead of the official announcement back in January 2016.
His most recent comparisons feature none other than the new flagship, the X-Pro2, pitched against the original interchangeable lens X series camera, the X-Pro1, and the former flagship, the X-T1. They are both extremely in-depth, so be sure to boil up a hot cup of coffee before you begin reading!
In Donovan’s first comparison between the X-Pro2 and X-Pro1, he feels that an upgrade is a no-brainer for anyone who has the cash to spend. However, he doesn’t discount the X-Pro1 if you are a cash-strapped student just coming to grips with photography or an existing (and perfectly satisfied) X-Pro1 user in need of a second body.

The conclusion in his second comparison between the X-Pro2 and X-T1 is more ambiguous, in part because the differences between the two cameras are far more subtle. He concedes that improvements have been made to the resolution and the ergonomics (with special reference to the Focus Stick) but does not feel that the products are so different that an upgrade is vital. In his personal statement at the end, he describes the X-T1 as more of a workhorse and the X-Pro2 as the kind of camera you’d shoot with for pure pleasure.
