Popular photography website Petapixel recently published an in-depth comparison between the new Fujifilm X-Pro2 and the former flagship, the X-T1. The test was conducted by current X-T10 owner and portrait/product photographer Laya Gerlock, as he was curious to find out whether the X-T1 was still enough of an upgrade with a camera like the X-Pro2 on the market.
To perform the comparison, he carried out a number of tests using the XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 on both cameras. Most shots were taken inside his studio where he knew the light would not change but he also used the cameras in ambient light for a few tests, such as the high ISO test.
In the conclusion, Laya states that the X-Pro2 is overall the better camera, which makes sense because it is now the flagship and is also newer. He compliments the vibrant nature of the files straight out of the camera, the build quality and the high ISO performance in particular, but doesn’t fail to mention that older cameras like the X-T1 and X-T10 are still perfectly useable and can be found at a more reasonable price these days.
