Venus Optics has released the officials specifications for their Laowa 7.5mm f/2 lens, the world’s widest rectilinear lens for micro four thirds.
The lens weighs only 200g and is very tiny (5.5 cm long). It features 13 elements in 9 groups with 2 Aspherical and 3 Extra-low dispersion elements. Venus Optics promises low distortion and chromatic aberration, as well as excellent sharpness from corner to corner.
The lens has an angle of view of 110° which is the equivalent of a 15mm lens designed for full frame/35mm format cameras. The fast aperture of f/2 should attract astro-photographers and the lens features a 46mm filter thread.
There is an even lighter version of this lens (150g) designed for drones and gimbals.
The Laowa 7.5mm f2 can be pre-ordered on the official website and shipments will start in May (June for the lighter version). The retail price (without tax) is $499 for the standard version and $519 for the lightweight version.
