Fujifilm has added a new 2x teleconverter to its mirrorless range to accompany the already existing 1.4x teleconverter.
It features a construction of 9 elements in 5 groups to maintain the optical performance of the original lens, is weather and dust-resistant, and can operate at temperatures as low as -10℃. As of now, only the XF 50-140mm and the XF 100-400mm are compatible and phase detection autofocus is only available with the 50-140mm.
The aperture becomes two f-stops higher with the teleconverter, and this is reflected in the camera’s EXIF data. Happily, the optical stabilisation of the lenses is unaffected by the teleconverter.
It will be added to the mirrorless digital camera “X-Series” interchangeable lens line-up in June 2016. You can visit the official Fujifilm website for more information.
