Adobe just released the latest version of its popular software programs Lightroom and Camera RAW plugin. These new versions (2015.4/6.4 for Lightroom and 9.4 for Camera RAW) include RAW file compatibility with the following new cameras from Fujifilm and Leica:

  • Fujifilm X70
  • Fujifilm X-E2S
  • Fujifilm X-Pro2
  • Leica M (Typ 262)
  • Leica X-U (Typ 113)

The updates include new Samyang lens profiles for various mounts including Fuji X, Samsung NX and Micro Four Thirds.

The release also fixes a few bugs and issues with the software. Lightroom also gets a new Boundary Warp for the Panorama mode. It offers a new option to deal with the irregular edges of stitched panoramas. Quoting from the Adobe press release:

Stitched panoramas often have non-rectangular boundaries. There are several ways to handle irregular boundaries. The most common approach is to apply a rectangular crop. This is straightforward, but important image details near the boundary may be lost due to cropping. Another approach is to use Content Aware Fill (in Photoshop) to fill in the transparent areas outside the boundary. This can be effective, but may require multiple attempts to obtain a satisfying (smooth, artifact-free) result. It can also be expensive and requires rendering out the panorama to an output-referred(non-raw) format. Boundary Warp is a feature that provides another approach to handling the irregular boundary of panoramas. The feature analyzes the boundary and warps the image so that its edges fit a rectangular frame.

Both versions are available to download from Adobe.com or via the Creative Cloud desktop app. Note that these updates might not appear right away in the case of Creative Cloud desktop.
