The Camera Store retests the Olympus Pen F’s continuous autofocus

In their original video review of the Olympus Pen F, Chris and Jordan of The Camera Store gave the continuous AF a pretty critical review. Since they were using a pre-production model at the time, they later decided to carry out a second review of the autofocus system to see if any improvements had been made.

Though I encourage you to watch their 4 minute video below to hear everything they have to say, it is worth noting that they didn’t see the changes they were hoping for. They had the most consistent results with the high speed continuous frame rate and lock-on autofocus but found that it struggles with static subjects and slow moving subjects taken with single button presses.

They also found that the OM-D E-M5 II is the better performer between the two models in C-AF.

To be fair, the Pen F is more for travel and street than sports and action but Olympus should be careful not to fall too far behind the autofocus performance of the competition, especially with the likes of the Sony a6300 out there.
