Three more Fujifilm X-Pro2 reviews we enjoyed reading

Nearly a month has passed since the announcement of the highly anticipated Fujifilm X-Pro2, and we have already been inundated with dozens of reviews of the camera. With the exception of the Sony A7r II, I don’t think there has been another mirrorless camera that’s caused this much of a stir!

The new Fujifilm X-Pro2

First, we have X Photographer Neill Soden. He only had the X-Pro2 for a short weekend but I enjoyed how he recounts his experience with the new camera in diary format, expressing the surprises, disappointments and confusions he encountered in chronological order. He was able to photograph a variety of situations in the brief time he had with the camera, the most interesting being the Chinese New Year celebrations in Johannesburg.

Next up is Ian MacDonald, who has really gone all out by dividing his review into five in-depth chapters. So far, he has completed parts one (unboxing and first impressions) and two (low light AF and ISO performance). For the second part, he tested the camera by photographing one of Vancouver’s best local bands at a country cabaret. Interestingly, he mentions that the X-Pro2’s AF never skipped a beat during the performance despite the low-light, which is a big step up from the earlier models.

Finally, we have Olaf Sztaba who, instead of writing a traditional review, decided to take his X-Pro2 on a photographic retreat to rural eastern Oregon. His aim was to discover whether he would “bond with or divorce” the new camera by spending time with it away from the distractions of his daily life and the online world of photography. The post was preceded by another fun article called “A Conversation with the X-Pro2” where he shares an imagined conversation with the new camera and a number of beautiful images he’s taken with the camera so far.
